About David and Helen Orme

David  was a teacher for 18 years before he became a full time writer.  David has written over 350 books including poetry collections and anthologies, fiction and non-fiction, and school text books. His Boffin Boy series represents a new direction - Manga style graphic novels.
His new book for teachers, 'Unlocking the Poet in Every Child' is based on many years of working with teachers and students on how to tackle the writing of poetry.

Helen  taught as a Special Needs Co-ordinator in a large comprehensive school, and has done stints as Teacher-in-charge of a tutorial unit and as an advisory teacher for information technology.  She has been a full time writer for over 10 years, specialising in fiction, non-fiction and ICT projects. She has written over 100 books and a number of CD ROMS. Her first novel, Who Cares, was published in 2004. It is based on her experiences in working with excluded pupils. This was followed by Fighting Back, which tackles the theme of racism. Her novel Don't Even Think It tackles themes of child abuse and family breakdown.
Her series of 'quick read' novels with a girls' interest, Siti's Sisters, (Ransom Publishing) has proved very popular and now runs to 24 titles.
